The Inductee Storytelling Session has become a crowd favorite. The Urban Playground provides an intimate setting for the inductees to share stories with the audience. Some are funny, while other will bring tears to your eyes. Either way, it is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to sit amongst the greats of the games.

With the help of translator Marise Carroll, Paula Goncalves da Silva was able to overcome a language barrior and play a major role in the storytelling session. Josh Roe, a local sports anchor, was the emcee for the event.

Sue Donahoe of the NCAA lead a press conference at the Knoxville Civic Coliseum on the morning of April 29 announcing a group effort to build a Habitat for Humanity "House in a Box." The Women's Basketball Hall of Fame, NCAA, Women's Basketball Coaches Association and Habitat for Humanity joined forces to make the build possible.

Pokey Chatman, former Louisiana State University (LSU) women's basketball coach, lead a team of volunteers that helped construct the "House in a Box." This house was built in memory of Sue Gunter, former LSU women's basketball coach and a 2000 Women's Basketball Hall of Fame inductee.

Geno Auriemma, along with the other 2006 inductees, signed the structure of the "House in a Box," which was sent to Baton Rouge, LA. The house became the home of a family that had been displaced by Hurricane Katrina.

The mission of the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame is to "Honor the past, celebrate the present, and promote the future" of women's basketball. This is represented by the Eastman statue that is located in the rotunda of the Hall of Fame. A young lady by the name of Christine Horton was a model for little girl in the statue. She is pictured here with Clarissa Davis-Wrightsil and Janice Lawrence Braxton at an autograph session at Eastman Chemical Company.

The Gala Reception and 2006 Induction Ceremony took place at the historic Tennessee Theatre in downtown Knoxville. Approximately 1,000 guests attended the red-carpet event. The reception was made possible by BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee.

Reception guests had the opportunity to bid on a wide array of items at the silent auction. Adam Love of Knoxville is pictured here with a Honda Ruckus Scooter, one of the many unique itmes featured in the silent auction.
