  • Was head coach of the 1980 U.S. Olympic Team as well as assistant coach of the 1976 U.S. Olympic Team
  • Has amassed an overall record of 613-273 as a collegiate coach with stints at Middle Tennessee State University (1963-64), Stephen F. Austin State University (1965-80), and Louisiana State University (1983-present) during her 35-year coaching career (record does not include two years at MTSU or first three years at SFA because of lack of records kept during those years)
  • Ranks as the fourth winningest active head coach in women’s collegiate basketball
  • Has guided LSU to 10 NCAA Tournament appearances, a Women’s National Invitational Tournament (WNIT) title in 1985, and a Southeastern Conference tournament crown in 1991
  • Selected as the SEC Coach of the Year in both 1997 and 1999
  • Played guard for Nashville Business College (1958-62), earning All-America honors in 1960, and represented the United States in international competition against the Soviet Union from 1960-62
