  • Has guided ICC to four National Junior College Athletic Association Division II national championships (1992, 1993, 1998, and 1999) as well as 19 berths overall in NJCAA national tourneys
  • List of National Coach of the Year accolades includes being named National Junior/Community College Basketball Coach of the Year by the Stayfree Corporation in 1981 and the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association in both 1988 and 1998 as well as the National Junior College/Community College Division II Coach of the Year by the NJCAA in 1992, 1993, 1998, and 1999
  • International coaching experience includes serving as an assistant coach for the U.S. team which claimed a silver medal at the 1981 World University Games as well as serving as an assistant coach for U.S. Select Teams in both 1981 and 1986
  • Also coached softball at Illinois Central College with a 28-year record of 840-309 and is the only coach in the history of NJCAA athletics to win a national championship in both basketball and softball in the same year (1998)

  • Played at Louisiana Tech from 1980-84 with the Lady Techsters reaching the Final Four each of those years and winning an AIAW national championship in 1981 and an NCAA national title in 1982 to go along with an overall record of 130-6
  • Was a two-time Academic All-American
  • Played on the United States women’s basketball team that captured the gold medal at the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles
  • Also won gold medals at the 1981 U.S. Olympic Festival and the 1983 Pan American Games
  • Played on Louisiana state championship teams all four years at Hammond High School
  • Served 15 years as an assistant coach at Louisiana Tech, the last four years as associate head coach, before being named head coach at Baylor University in April 2000
  • During her tenure on the Louisiana Tech staff, the Lady Techsters went 403-63, won an NCAA national championship in 1988, and advanced to the Final Four seven more times

  • Has also been a member of the International Olympic Committee and the board of directors of the U.S. Olympic Committee
  • Received the Olympic Order, the highest honor bestowed by the International Olympic Committee, in 1996
  • Has served as the first and only executive director of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) since 1969
  • Was instrumental in overseeing the birth of the first collegiate women’s division in 1975
  • Was named the 1998 recipient of the Edward S. Steitz Award, given annually by USA Basketball to an individual for outstanding contributions to international basketball

  • Named Chief Executive Officer of the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) on September 1, 1996 after serving 15 years as Executive Director of the organization
  • Has been a part of the WBCA since its founding in 1981, helping the organization grow from a membership of 212 to 5,000-plus
  • Has served as the WBCA’s chief liaison to numerous affiliated governing bodies and sport organizations, including USA Basketball, the Women’s Sports Foundation, the NCAA, the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and the National Association of Collegiate Women Athletic Administrators (NACWAA)
  • Served as head women’s basketball coach at Madison College (renamed James Madison University in 1977) from 1970 to 1982, compiling a 142-114 worksheet
  • Chaired the U.S. Girls’ and Women’s Basketball Rules Committee from 1979 to 1981
  • Acted as tournament director for the 1975 AIAW Large College National Basketball Championships
  • Served as committee chair of the Kodak All-America program from 1976 through 1982

  • Ranks as the fourth winningest active head coach in women’s collegiate basketball
  • Has guided LSU to 10 NCAA Tournament appearances, a Women’s National Invitational Tournament (WNIT) title in 1985, and a Southeastern Conference tournament crown in 1991
  • Selected as the SEC Coach of the Year in both 1997 and 1999
  • Played guard for Nashville Business College (1958-62), earning All-America honors in 1960, and represented the United States in international competition against the Soviet Union from 1960-62
