Sylvia Hatchell

• Compiled a career record of 1,023-405 in 44 seasons as a collegiate head coach
• Compiled a 272-80 record in 11 seasons at Francis Marion University, directing the Patriots to an AIAW small-college championship (1982) and an NAIA championship (1986) — making her the only women's basketball coach to lead teams to AIAW, NAIA, and NCAA titles
• Served as an assistant coach for USA teams that won gold medals at the World University Games (1983), the Goodwill Games and World Championships (1986), and the Olympics (1988), as well as a silver medal at the World University Games (1985)
• Compiled a 751-325 record in 33 seasons at the University of North Carolina
• Guided North Carolina to an NCAA National Championship (1994)
• Led the USA to a gold medal at the R. William Jones Cup as head coach (1994)
• Was named National Coach of the Year (1994, 2006)
• Led the USA to a silver medal at the World University Games as head coach (1995)
• Led the Tar Heels to three Final Four appearances (1994, 2006, 2007)
• Won eight ACC Tournament championships and four ACC regular-season titles
• Became the third women's basketball coach in NCAA Division I history to reach 1,000 career wins (2017)
• Led the Tar Heels to 23 NCAA Tournament appearances over her tenure
• Retired from coaching in 2019 after 33 seasons at North Carolina
