Kara Wolters

  • Wolters helped guide USA Basketball to a gold medal in the 2000 Olympic Games • She won gold medals at the 1997 World University Games, 1998 World Championships, and 1999 US Olympic Cup
  • She helped guide the Houston Comets to the 1999 WNBA Championship
  • Wolters helped guide the University of Connecticut to the school first NCAA National Championship in 1995
  • She was on the All-Final Four Team and averaged 20.5 ppg in the 1995 Women’s Final Four
  • In 1996, Wolters received the Victor Award as the nation’s top female collegiate player
  • She was named the 1997 AP National College Player of the Year and was runner-up for the Naismith National Player of the Year
  • Wolters was named on the Big East All-Tournament Team four times
  • She holds the rebounding record (1286) and shot’s blocked record (396) at the University of Connecticut

  • Represented the United States in both the first and second World Championships, helping the U.S. win gold medals in both Santiago, Chile in 1953 and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 1957, respectively
  • Earned a gold medal on the United States’ 1959 Pan American Games team
  • Also played on USA squads which faced Russian teams on international tours in 1958 and 1960

Katie Smith

  • She helped lead Ohio State to the Big Ten Championship in 1993

  • Ranks second on Georgia’s all-time career charts with 2,195 points (17.6 ppg) and 1,193 rebounds (9.5)
  • Helped the Lady Bulldogs go 116-15, win two Southeastern Conference championships, earn four NCAA Tournament berths, and reach the championship game of the 1985 NCAA Final Four during her collegiate career
  • Played on 11 U.S. National Teams altogether, including three Olympics (gold medals in 1988 and 1996 and bronze in 1992), three World Championships (golds in 1986 and 1990 and bronze in 1994), two Goodwill Games (golds in 1986 and 1990), two Pan American Games (gold in 1987 and bronze in 1991), and World University Games (silver in 1985)
  • Selected as USA Basketball’s Female Athlete of the Year in both 1988 and 1992
  • Played professionally for nine seasons overseas with stints in Japan, Italy, Spain, and Turkey then finished her career with the ABL’s Atlanta Glory
