  • Louisiana Tech’s only three-time Kodak All-American (1980-1982)
  • Won Wade Trophy and the Broderick Award as the nation’s most outstanding female college basketball player in 1982
  • Scored 2,979 points and grabbed 1,511 rebounds while tallying a career record of 143-10, the most wins ever over a four-year period in the history of the program
  • Won two national championships – the 1981 AIAW title and the 1982 NCAA title at Louisiana Tech – leading the Lady Techsters to a dominating 69-1 record over those two seasons
  • Scored in double figures in 140 of her 153 games at Louisiana Tech, averaging 19.4 points and 9.8 rebounds during her collegiate career.
  • Inducted into the Louisiana Tech Athletic Hall of Fame in 1984 and Louisiana State Hall of Fame in 1992
  • Had her number (41) retired at Louisiana Tech in 1984
  • Scored a career high of 41 points against UCLA as a senior
  • Still ranks No. 1 in scoring, No. 1 in rebounding, No. 1 in field goals made (1,193), No. 1 in free throws made (593), No. 2 in scoring average (19.4) and No. 6 in steals (274) in the Lady Techster record books

  • She helped led University of Southern California to back-to-back NCAA Division I National titles in 1983 and 1984
  • She was a 1984 Kodak All-American, a finalist for the 1983 Wade Trophy, and a finalist for the 1984 Naismith Award
  • Three-time All-NCAA First Team selection
  • Ranks second in rebounds and fourth in points in USC history
  • In her 127 game career with USC, she averaged 17.4 points, 9.9 rebounds, and shot 58 percent from the field
  • Helped lead USA Basketball to its first ever gold medal in the1984 Olympics
  • She played professionally in Brazil, Spain, Italy, and Sicily and was a four-time Italian League All-Star
  • She was a first round draft pick in the inaugural season of the WNBA, and she is the first WNBA player to have a son play in the NBA
  • She was inducted into the Greater Flint Afro-American Hall of Fame in 2000
  • Won a Pan-American Gold Medal and the World Championship in 1983
  • Has a high school still standing record of 75-0 wins at Flint Northern High School in Flint, Michigan

  • Directed UT to a storybook 1997-98 campaign as the Lady Vols posted a flawless 39-0 worksheet en route to claiming an unprecedented third consecutive NCAA crown
  • Has had teams advance to the Final Four 15 times altogether
  • Coached the USA to its first gold medal in women’s basketball competition in the Olympics in 1984
  • Earned a silver medal as co-captain of the 1976 U.S. Olympic squad
  • Has produced 10 basketball Olympians as well as 16 Kodak All-Americans receiving 27 citations
  • Has led the Lady Vols to eight regular season titles and nine postseason tourney crowns in the rugged Southeastern Conference

  • Earned a silver medal at the 1976 Olympics, representing the United States in the first Olympic basketball competition for women
  • Also participated in the 1978 World University Games and was captain of the 1979 U.S. National Team
  • Played professionally for three seasons (1978-1982) in the Women’s Basketball League with the Minnesota Fillies and the St. Louis Streak
  • Began her collegiate career at North Georgia College where she played for one season before transferring to Emporia State (Kansas) College for two seasons
  • Played just one season at the University of Tennessee but set nine marks which still stand as Lady Vol records, including points in a game (51), rebounds in a game (24), and points in a season (987)
  • Became the University of Tennessee’s first Kodak All-American in 1977

Patsy Neal

  • A three-time AAU All-American (1959, 1960, 1965)
  • Played collegiately at Wayland Baptist College (1956-1960), where she helped the Queens win a pair of AAU national titles in 1957 and 1959 as well as post a second place finish in 1960 and a third place showing in 1958
  • Helped the USA capture a gold medal at the 1959 Pan American Games in Chicago
  • Served as captain of the USA team that competed in the 1964 World Championship in Lima, Peru, finishing fourth
  • Also played on U.S. teams that competed against a Russian All-Star team in 1959-60, including a game at fabled Madison Square Garden, and toured France, Germany, and Russia in 1965
  • Won the National Free Throw Title at the 1957 AAU National Tournament, connecting on 48-of-50 free throws
  • Has authored eight sports-related books
